Pick a machine by what moves, how much a loaded cart or bin weighs and the route between the soil side, the clean side and the floors.

Tow the carts or power them

A laundry cart tugger tows the carts and bins you already own. The Pony Express 1062-LS tows up to 2,000 lb and suits linen carts and basket trucks on hotel and hospital floors. The 1065-LS tows up to 5,000 lb and suits bulk bins and longer trains. Both share a 25 by 24 inch body, run 0 to 1.5 mph in the low range and 0 to 3 mph in the high range, and ride on foam filled tires that leave no marks.

A powered cart carries its own load, one cart at a time. The motorized linen carts run from 700 to 2,000 lb, and the same drives power commercial laundry carts from any maker as a drive kit. For carts up to 3,000 lb that must not be modified, the CartCaddyShorty pushes and pulls them with a spring loaded hitch.

Bins and the bin to bin hitch

The 1065-LS couples to bulk bins with a quick connect hitch and no changes to the bins. The optional bin to bin hitch links MOD72P series bins or an equivalent, so one trip moves several bins without them knocking together. The Pony Express Motorized Laundry Cart puts a bin from 14 to 84 cubic feet on a powered center wheel drive base for soiled linen and bulk laundry.

Clean linen carts

The MCSC wire shelf carts carry 1,500 lb, 500 lb per shelf, in twelve sizes from 24 or 30 inches wide and 36 to 72 inches long, with 54 or 60 inch shelving and a zippered vinyl cover. The 1070-A aluminum shelf carts are sized by beds, from the 1070-A1 for 18 to 24 beds to the 1070-A8 for 42 to 50 beds. Scrubs and uniforms behind locked doors ride the security linen cart, 2,000 lb on three reinforced shelves with a hasp on the doors.

Hotels that want a complete cart use the Powered Hospitality Cart, up to 1,500 lb with bed and shelf sizes built to order. Housekeeping carts from any maker take the powered housekeeping kit, installed on site for loads up to 700 lb.

Doors, elevators and ramps

Measure the narrowest door, the elevator car and the steepest ramp before you choose. The MCSC carts are 27.5 or 36.5 inches wide and 51 to 84 inches long, and they are rated for ramps up to 15 degrees. The laundry bin cart is rated for 6 degree ramps. For washdown areas, the 1062 Stainless Steel and the CartCaddyShorty Stainless Steel have stainless frames.

Batteries and shifts

The laundry tuggers and the MCSC carts run up to 8 hours on AGM batteries and recharge in about 4 hours from the onboard charger on a standard 120 or 240 volt outlet. For back to back shifts, the lithium tuggers swap packs by hand.

Tugger or powered cart for a laundry?

A tugger tows the carts and bins you already own, several at once, 2,000 lb with the 1062-LS and 5,000 lb with the 1065-LS. A powered cart carries one load on its own base and needs no hitch. Laundries that run cart trains between the soil and clean sides buy a tugger. Floors that move one cart at a time buy powered carts.

How many bins can one tugger move?

As many as fit within the rating, counting every bin and its load. The 1065-LS tows up to 5,000 lb on a flat floor, and the bin to bin hitch links MOD72P series bins so they travel as one train. Tell us the loaded bin weight and the steepest ramp and we confirm the train length.

Can you power the laundry carts we already own?

Yes. Drive kits fit linen and housekeeping carts from any maker and move 700 or 1,000 lb, and the Pony Express retrofit drive kit motorizes laundry bins and security linen carts. Send photos and sizes of your carts and we confirm what fits.
